SAVVY Collective: A New Vision for the Independent UK Hotel Marketplace

After 30+ years in the accommodation business, and now over a decade of running our own hotels, we see SAVVY Hotel Group evolving within the marketplace and believe it offers a real solution to the very real and current challenges many small to medium-sized hoteliers are facing.

Officially launching this month, SAVVY Collective has been a year in development and sees unbridled opportunity to support wider independent, non-branded hotels in numerous ways, with very much a “blank sheet of paper” approach.

SAVVY Collective brings hotel management, hotel consultancy, hotel investment, hotel education, and events under one new umbrella. It brings everything together under one clear identity, with one shared purpose: to help hospitality businesses become stronger, smarter, more profitable, and more resilient for the long term, with community at the heart of every property.

I believe SAVVY Collective is our way of clearly defining solutions that have become increasingly apparent in recent years here in the UK. I genuinely believe some independent hotels now have a real opportunity to become that traditional community hub in a town or city, a role often held by a pub, by becoming an inclusive venue that acts as a chameleon of space for people to enjoy their event, experience, or gathering.

At its core, SAVVY Collective is built for owner-led hotels and hospitality businesses. It has grown out of real operational experience, real ownership, real pressure, and a real understanding of what it takes to run a hospitality business in today’s climate. It has also grown through meaningful educational partnerships.

SAVVY Collective brings together our work across hotel management, consultancy, education, events, investment, and portfolio development. Each part plays a different role, but all of it is connected by the same belief: hospitality businesses need practical support, commercial clarity, and “people and community first” thinking if they are going to thrive.

This is not about creating a shiny new brand. It is about sharing knowledge, experience, and understanding of what a small to medium-sized hotel business needs in order to thrive, especially as we now sit in a far more competitive marketplace. Competition is everywhere: the new office block with its new conference facility, the refurbished flats becoming an Airbnb, the local village hall now hosting weddings, the high street chain restaurant taking food and beverage spend. It is complicated.

Why now?

Because the hospitality landscape has changed.

Independent hotels and hospitality businesses are under constant pressure, now more than ever. Rising costs, staffing challenges, guest expectations, operational complexity, and the need to protect profit without losing personality have made it harder than ever to stand still, never mind grow.

We know that because we live it.

SAVVY Collective has been created to meet that reality head-on. The aim is simple: to support hospitality businesses in building strong teams, service excellence, sustainable profitability, community engagement, and operational resilience. That is the standard we are setting for ourselves and for the businesses we work with.

The bigger ambition: becoming a hotel management company

One of the biggest parts of this launch is our ambition, in parallel with helping others, to grow SAVVY Collective into a larger hotel management company. Some of that, we feel, will happen naturally through working with others, as we could provide the exit plan many independent hoteliers may very well be looking for.

The hotel management side of the business is not being built on guesswork. It is built on years of operational and strategic experience, and on a family business mindset where trust, integrity, and long-term relationships matter. The model is clear: owners stay in control, while SAVVY comes in as a fully accountable partner to raise standards, improve performance, protect asset value, and drive profitability.

For us, hotel management is not about taking over and making everything feel corporate or generic. It is about helping independent hotels perform as the best version of themselves.

That means strengthening the product, improving service, developing people, tightening operations, supporting financial performance, and creating businesses that feel connected to their local community. It means understanding that the guest experience and the commercial result are not separate things. They are tied together. Always.

We want SAVVY Collective to become the confident choice for owners who need support but do not want to lose their identity in the process.

We believe strong teams build strong businesses. We believe hotels should reflect their place and community, not feel copy-and-paste. We believe owners need honest guidance, not nonsense. And we believe the best partnerships are the ones where people roll their sleeves up and work alongside each other properly.

What makes SAVVY Collective exciting is that it is bigger than one service line.

Alongside hotel management, we are building out consultancy support for independent hotels and hospitality ventures that need fast, focused expertise, whether that is pre-opening support, repositioning, rebranding, operational health checks, or long-term strategic input. We also have education, events, and investment as part of the wider group, which means we can support businesses from different angles across their lifecycle.

Launching SAVVY Collective is a marker moment, but it is not the finish line. It is the beginning of a much bigger chapter.

We are building a brand that reflects where we are now, but also where we are heading. A brand with the flexibility to support independent hospitality businesses properly. Working with SAVVY Collective means being part of a hospitality collective that has ambition and substance behind it.

Most importantly, it is built from experience, hard graft, and a passion for hospitality.

SAVVY Collective is here to bring together our ventures, back great businesses, and create a stronger future in hospitality through confident action and real momentum.

And for us, that future includes becoming a trusted hotel management partner for owner-led businesses that want to grow, improve, and protect what makes them special.
