Hospitality Connect, a national program started by the Manchester Hoteliers Association, brings together

regional Hospitality Associations, FE Colleges and Careers Hub teams to strategically plan projects

that aligns with local education priorities.  We harness the membership power of Associations, to bring forward a collaborative group of hoteliers who wish to work meaningfully with schools in their area and nurture the talent pipeline. The Hospitality Hero is a proud supporter and promoter of this great program.

Mission

To inspire the next generation of hospitality talent, Hospitality Connect creates long term meaningful partnerships between industry and schools.

Matched partners follow a programme of recommended activities that include curriculum enhancement, venue-based experiences of the workplace, careers education activities and parental / carer and teacher encounters.

Our Core Aims

  • Bring together Hospitality Associations and Career Hub teams to support good quality careers education so that schools benefit from a high impact hotelier partnership.

  • Improve awareness of the breadth of occupations available by delivering inspiring activities that will positively introduce students to the hospitality sector.

  • Amplify technical and vocational pathways that lead into the sector from age 16+ by including further and higher education institutions in our regional projects.

  • Induct employer volunteers as ‘Hospitality Connect Ambassadors’ to understand education priorities, curriculum, safeguarding, inclusion and how to partner with schools meaningfully.

Teacher Training

Despite being one of the UK’s largest and most dynamic industries, hospitality is still overlooked by school leavers — with only 3% considering it a career path. That’s largely because 61% of young people say they’ve never been properly informed about the opportunities it offers.

We’re working to change that.

In partnership with Cheshire Enterprise and Hospitality Connect, we hosted our first Teacher Training Day at The Chester Townhouse, giving local educators a hands-on experience of real hospitality life, from bar and kitchen sessions to housekeeping and hotel operations.

The response was incredible. Teachers left inspired, informed, and ready to champion hospitality in their schools.

This is just the beginning. With the right momentum, this initiative could grow into a national movement, because when teachers value hospitality, students will too.
